How is WorkgroupShare affected by the DST changes in the United States?

Symptoms

Calendar appointments appear to be one hour out between certain clients.

More Info

Note: This FAQ only applies to WorkgroupShare clients located in US timezones.

Detail

In the United States the spring change to DST has now taken place, some two weeks earlier than usual, and this has and will continue to cause some computer time related problems. The DST time change in computers is handled automatically by the operating system and settings in the computers registry. Computers that have received the latest Windows updates will be aware of the new DST times. Those computers that have not will think that DST has not yet happened. So, appointments will appear an hour out between such computers during this transition period.

The solution is simply to apply the latest Windows updates to your computer’s operating system. See the following Microsoft knowledgebase article for instructions on how to do this.
