How is someone posting to my list able to bypass the password protection?

Question

I have set my list up so that anyone posting to the list must supply a password in order for their post to be allowed out tot the list members. However some people are able to post to the list without supplying a password. How is this?

Answer

The most likely cause of this is that you have set up those email addresses that are able to post to the list without a password as moderators of that list. By default list moderators do not need to supply a password to post to the list even if one has been set as required for the remainder of the list members.

This is also true of post moderation, posts from list moderators are not subject to moderation. This is due to the fact that list moderator’s are "trusted".

If you also wish to enforce passwords for list moderators then please go to GMS Communication Server > Post > Moderator > and set up the password you wish to be used.

If you do not wish to have any moderators you may simply remove the ones already set.
