How do I stop the admin utility asking me for a username and password when it starts up?

Question

Older versions of GMS required the username and password of an NT SAM database user with administration rights in order to access the utility. This is no longer the case with newer versions.

However, if you have upgraded from older versions the behaviour will not have been changed by the upgrade and you may still be asked to supply the username and password.

Answer

To disable this behaviour, so that a username and password are no longer required, you must edit one of the GMS variables using regedt32.exe.

Open regedt32.exe and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/InternetShopper/Mail/Private and then create a new Value of type REG_DWORD called RestrictAdminAccess and give it a Data value of "0" (zero, don’t include the quotes). If the value already exists simply change the Data value from 1 (one) to 0 (zero).

You should now be able to run the Admin utility and it will start up without asking for the username and password.
