Question
I am unable to change my server hostname due to network policies or other factors – but I would like GMS to identify itself when sending emails using a differnet hostname to this. Is this possible?
Answer
To control the outgoing hostname for your domain, login to the administrative interface on your server then in the left hand panel select “Domains and Users” then select your domain in the list.
On the right hand side choose the variables tab (can’t select variables? see how here) then scroll down until you find the “hostname” variable. Set this to the value you want, e.g. “mail” then press the save button.
Your server will now identify itself as the hostname you specify, along with your domain name, e.g. mail.example.dom.
