How do I manually upgrade the Microsoft Outlook MAPI Connector?

Question

When I attempt to upgrade the Outlook MAPI Connector. The Windows Installer keeps telling me that I need to uninstall the original product.

Answer

The Windows Installer can only be used for clean installs when run directly from the GUI. If you are upgrading an existing installation you have the following choices:

1. Uninstall the original product and then install a fresh copy by running the Windows Installer from within the GUI. This will not cause any problems.
2. Run the Windows installer from a command prompt using the command

   msiexec /f msi.file

3. Use the "full" install option by downloading and running the .exe file
