GMS Mail User icon reports error when clicked on

Question

Whenever I double click on the GMS Mail Users icon in the control panel I get an error message which says that there is an error with the file:

C:WINNITSystem32NTmail.CPL

Answer

This can occur if an entry in the registry has become incorrect. To check if
this is the case, you will need to use REGEDT32 to view the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/InternetShopper/Users

Check for any accounts (which end with .pop or .forward) with a space at
the beginning. If you find one, remove the entry. The User CPL should now
start correctly.

This problem does not affect versions 4 and onwards.
