Yes, GMS Webmail works with Sun Microsystem’s Java Virtual Machine(VM). Java 2 version 1.4.1_02 has been tested extensively with both Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers.

Configuring Internet Explorer for Windows:
To switch to Sun’s VM, Select Tools > Internet Options… and click on the Advanced Tab
scroll down to Java (Sun) and check:
then at Microsoft VM uncheck the following:
- Java console enabled (requires restart)
- Java logging enabled
- JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled (requires restart)
Click OK to save the changes then close all running instances of Internet Explorer and relaunch it.
Further configuration of the Sun Java Plugin can be done by opening the Control Panels and double clicking on the Java Plug-in control panel
Note: One of the benefits of using Sun’s Java VM over Microsoft’s VM is that it has mouse wheel support.
