Can I use 3rd party clients to edit and view Calendars and Tasks via GMS Collaboration?

Question

There are users on our network that do not use MS Outlook as their client. Is it possible for them to edit and view both personal and shared calendars and tasks using other clients?

Answer

Yes. As GMS Collaboration uses iCal and vCard over HTTP to send and synchronize information to the GMS server it is possible to view and update both personal and shared calendars and tasks from other clients.

These include, but may not be limited to;

Windows

  • GMS WebMail
  • Mozilla Calendar (Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird)
  • Apple iCal
  • Eventsherpa
  • WordPerfect Mail (read only)

Unix/Linux

  • GMS WebMail
  • KDE Organizer
  • Mozilla Calendar (Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird)

Mac

  • GMS WebMail
  • Apple iCal

Instructions for using the above clients with GMS Collaboration can be found in the GMS User Guide.
