Can GMS Communication Server archive my list mail so that others can easily access these past messages?

Answer

Yes.

GMS Communication Server allows you to keep archives of list postings which can be kept for a list owner’s own reference or be made available to the members of a list. These archives can be generated in two formats Mail Meta Language (MML) or HyperText Markup Language (HTML).
Archives are particularly useful because they allow members and non-members to view previous questions and answers which may in turn stop the same questions being repeated. They also allow prospective members to gauge the content of a list before they decide to join. GMS Communication Server archives are threaded which means messages with the same subject are linked and can be viewed together making an archive easier to navigate.

One of the potential benefits of archiving past messages is for technical lists where threads relating to specific technical queries can be linked to from a knowledge base or frequently asked questions section. Another potential benefit is for group discussions about projects or new product ideas where archives held privately can be referred back to at a later date to review suggestions made in discussions. Newsletters for a company can be archived to enable new customers to access past news, new product updates and information easily, creating more demand for products featured in those newsletters. There are many potential benefits from archiving list messages and this feature is included as standard in GMS Communication Server.

Gordano runs a number of discussion lists for users of its products, including GMS Communication Server, which you can join via the support section of its website at www.gordano.com . Archives for these lists are also available on the site.
