This document describes changes to the configuration or behaviour of Gordano products between releases listed in reverse order. You should make sure you read all the items for every build listed since the release of the build you are upgrading from. Many comments will be valid from that build up to and including the current build such as older products becoming obsolete. Last updated: 05-Dec-2017 Upgrade notes for build 7290 (released on 05-Dec-2017) 1. DKIM added to SMTP service, allowing DKIM signatures to be added to outgoing emails and for DKIM signatures to be checked on incoming emails, and then acted upon according to your anti-spam preferences. 2. GMS Drive feature added * Now you can store your important documents and files directly in your Webspace email account allowing them to be accessible from anywhere. * Drive client added - add a local network drive that connects to your GMS Drive storage allowing you to access add or modify your files direct from your desktop to have them available in Webspace. * GMS Drive now supports mobile devices - so you can access your files from your phone. 3. Multiple Webspace enhancements including: * Preferences improved * Calendar improvements * Mail search * New password recovery feature added - permitting a recovery email to be set to allow recovery of a lost password * Improved support for inline attached email messages 4. GMS Office feature added * For a small fee, you can now create, open and edit common document formats directly in GMS Webspace - including Word documents, Presentations and Spreadsheets. 5. Multiple admin interface and service stability improvements 6. Improvements to SSL sessions in SMTP to include fallback support for servers using out of date SSL handshakes. This fix DOES NOT remove the protection added in a previous version against POODLE and other vulnerabilities. 7. Improvements to sharing and stability in the GMS Collaboration Outlook addin 8. Added support for TZ database timezones in webmail professional meeting invitation emails 9. Addition of Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support for over the air synchronisation of calendars and contacts to mobile devices supporting the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol. 2. Minor fixes for service instabilities 3. Improvements to database locking and service startup in Linux version. Upgrade notes for build 4672 (released on 04-Mar-2014) 1. Complete re-write of folder locking code to improve behaviour on multi-accessed mailboxes, and improve behaviour when accessing a mailbox using webmail and an an IMAP client simultaneously. 2. Fixes for assorted IMAP "UID error" messages 3. Fix for issue with AI feature in Anti-spam not working correctly. 4. Fix for IMAP unhandled exceptions 5. Change to SMTP behaviour during "mailbox busy" periods. Messages are now accepted and queued for re-delivery rather than being rejected. Upgrade notes for build 4460 (released on 29-Oct-2013) 1. Webmail "spell check as you type" was causing some performance problems particularly in IE and Chrome. This resulted in odd behaviour in the compose window. The SCAYT feature has been disabled and is replaced by the native browser spell checker. 2. Admin UI fixes and performance enhancements 3. Changes to IMAP expunge behaviour to prevent "UID error" messages in Outlook 4. Fix for a list error relating to malformed list manager messages 5. Fixed unhandled exception in IMAP while processing IMAP Search command Upgrade notes for build 4389 (released on 15-Jul-2013) 1. Webmail default theme changed to new simple cleaner design 2. Webmail new display mode added for widescreen monitors with automatic resolution detection 3. Improvements to message grid display in webmail to combine date/time column to single column 4. Improvements to webmail frameset to prevent incorrect resizing from making content invisible to users 5. Fixes to numerous bugs in the admin interface - no remaining bugs have been reported that are not fixed. Upgrade notes for build 4209 (released on 08-Apr-2013) 1. IMAP has been changed to more reliably handle EXPUNGES on folders that are accessed from multiple clients or devices. 2. Numerous cosmetic and functional fixes to the administrative interface Upgrade notes for build 4178 (released on 27-Feb-2013) 1. The linux version has been improved to allow for upgrades of systems running older versions of GLIBC, removing the requirement to run 2.7. 2. A fix for a mailbox index issue when accounts are accessed via both WebMail and POP3 3. A fix for an error that can occur if a client disconnects from IMAP during a FETCH 4. Numerous cosmetic fixes to the administrative interface Upgrade notes for build 4159 (released on 30-Jan-2013) *****PLEASE NOTE:***** If upgrading a linux based server, this build requires GLIBC 2.7 or above. You MUST check your GLIBC vesion before upgrading. If you are unsure, do not upgrade, and contact support@gordano.com for assistance. Fixes and enhancements: 1. Fixes to cosmetic and functionality issues in new GMS System Administration interface Numerous fixes included for bugs and display issues reported following the release of build 4128. Functional UI improvements such as single click edits to grids have been added. 2. Updated IMAP IDLE new mail notification behaviour to improve notifications Some clients (e.g. Mozilla Thunderbird) could exhibit an issue with new mails not appearing when selecting a folder, this has been fixed. 3. Updated ESMTP STARTTLS behaviour to prevent acceptance of plain text commands Incorrectly ordered plain text commands are now rejected if received during a STARTTLS negotiation 4. Automatically enabled "Spell check as you type" in the GMS WebMail compose window Messages are now spell checked automatically when typed in webmail 5. Fixed search bug in GMS WebMail Under certain conditions searches in GMS WebMail could cause an error. This has been fixed. 6. Fixed uninstall issue in linux The linux uninstall script was ignoring inputs, this has been fixed 7. Improved GMS Outlook client install permissions The plugin now installs more easily on systems with restricted permissions Upgrade notes for build 4128 (released on 15-Jan-2013) 1. Completely redesigned GMS System Administration interface. The new interface no longer requires that JAVA is installed in the browser, and has been updated and modernised with a more logical structure. 2. GMS Comm administration is not included in the new administration interface. The interface for GMS Comm will be migrated to the new format in a forthcoming release. Until then the old system administration interface can be accessed through the following URL http://:/oldadmin.mml 3. GMS Webmail is now compatible with IE 10 and Firefox 15 4. GMS Webmail now includes an improved HTML editor, which now functions in Opera and Chrome browsers as well as IE and Firefox. 5. The Outlook connector (GMS Collaboration) now supports Outlook 2010, 32-bit and 64-bit 6. GMS now supports 2048 bit SSL certificates, and can create certificate requests for them. 7. GMS WWW now supports HTTP PUT and DELETE methods. 8. GMS WWW now supports application/xml content type. The xml body is stored into a global variable xml_body Upgrade notes for build 3793 (released on 16-Nov-2010) 1. GMS Webmail & WebMail Express now provide full support for Arabic and RTL text. 2. GMS Webmail now includes an improved HTML editor 3. Improved translations for all supported languages Upgrade notes for build 3758 (released on 23-Mar-2010) 1. GMS WebMail Professional now includes a document management and sharing feature. Please refer to the online help for more information. "2. GMS WebMail now supports browsers based around the WebKit engine, such as " Safari and Google Chrome. No upgrade notes for build 3712 (released on 09-Jun-2009) No upgrade notes for build 3689 (released on 27-Jan-2009) Upgrade notes for build 3664 (released on 22-Jul-2008) 1. GMS Anti-Virus updates for builds 3626 and all previous builds will stop being available on 14-Apr-2009 or earlier if necessary. Customers running GMS Anti-Virus will need to upgrade to a later build to continue receiving anti-virus updates. 2. All UNIX versions now use the DNS domain name in preference to the NIS+ domain name when determining the local domain name for GMS. Upgrade notes for build 3626 (released on 12-Feb-2008) 1. The GMS WebMail Profesional interface is now completely Java free. This means that browser support has changed in this release. Please see http://www.gordano.com/kb.htm?q=3725 for more information. 2. GMS can now be installed on a greater variety of LINUX distributions due to the removal of a dependency on the libelf library. 3. The Outlook connector will now synchronize private events for a user with " ""read private as busy"" access to a shared calendar. The user granting access" to their calendar will have to re-grant the same access rights in order for the subscriber to see any private events. Upgrade notes for build 3539 (released on 17-Jul-2007) 1. Support for Windows NT4 will stop on 17-Jul-2008. Builds for Windows will NT4 no longer be available after this date. Builds for later versions of Windows will continue to be available. Upgrade notes for build 3509 (released on 17-Apr-2007) 1. Support for glibc 2.3.1 under Linux will stop on 17-Apr-2008. Builds using this version of glibc will no longer be available after this date. Builds for glibc 2.4 under Linux will continue to be available. Upgrade notes for build 3462 (released on 19-Sep-2006) Upgrade notes for build 3461 (released on 12-Sep-2006) 1. The GMS Instant Messenger clients and the Outlook connector for GMS Collaboration have been modified to better handle multibyte languages. " As a result, old connectors will no longer work and must be upgraded." 2. The LDAP authentication module now supports SSL. The default LDAP client library has changed to wldap32.dll on windows platforms. The default user authentication mode has changed to 'bind' on all platforms. Upgrade notes for build 3434 (released on 11-Jul-2006) 1. The MAPI connector has been enhanced to support mail and collaboration folders in a single tree. PST (Personal Folders) is now used for the local cache resulting in increased performance and better interoperability with third party tools. The change to PST requires a new Outlook profile to be created. Please see http://www.gordano.com/kb.htm?q=3058 for more information. 2. The GMS Anti-Spam Update Service has been updated in this release to include superior spam detection. Existing customers who are using this product will not receive this update until the product subscription is renewed. Customers who wish to trial or upgrade to the new service should contact Gordano Sales. 3. The format of licence keys provided by Gordano has changed in this version. You will not be able to enter keys issued for a previous version into this " or later versions. Should you need to re-enter keys, please contact Gordano" Sales so that they can be re-issued. Upgrade notes for build 3396 (released on 07-Feb-2006) 1. VSM is no longer supported and VSM functionality will no longer work in GMS. If you wish to upgrade to GMS Anti-Virus then you should contact sales to purchase a GMS Anti-Virus key. Upgrade notes for build 3365 (released on 04-Oct-2005) 1. The mail utility has been modified to simplify the options for system recovery. The profile and database files are always included on creation of a setup.txt and are always extracted on a restore. " The ""System Recovery"" option in the administration interface no" longer offers options to include profiles or database files since this is now done by default. 2. On upgrade all users without a profile will automatically converted to the Domain Base Profile for the domain that they exist in. In the odd case this may result in the loss of administration access to your GMS installation. This can easily be resolved using the admin.exe utility provided with each GMS installation. Simply run the utility and create a new user with the relevant administration rights. Log on as this user and add the existing user to the Administrator profile. If the admin utility requests a username and password prior to " opening, open regedt32.exe and go to" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\internetshopper\mail\private If you have an existing entry of RestrictAdminAccess with a value of 1 change it to 0 (zero) and re-run admin.exe. If it does not exist create a new Value of RestrictAdminAccess and type DWORD and give it a value of 0 (zero) Upgrade notes for build 3335 (released on 21-Jun-2005) 1. GMS Collaboration customers will be required to upgrade the MAPI connector installed on the users Outlook machines. This is to support protocol changes within the collaboration server. 2. Support for glibc 2.2.4 under Linux will stop on 20-Jun-2006. Builds using this version of glibc will no longer be available after this date. Builds for glibc 2.3.1 under Linux will continue to be available. Upgrade notes for build 3304 (released on 01-Mar-2005) 1. The handling of the '+' modifier in restricted word files has been rationalised. It is still possible to use this modifier to allow messages with certain words or phrases. It is also now possible to over-ride previously banned words or phrases in different word files. See the GMS Administrators guide for more details. 2. Previously authenticating to the server would bypass Mail clause RBL checks. From this build these checks are applied unless the " Anti-Spam option ""Bypass all checks"" is enabled for authenticated" users. Upgrade notes for build 3270 (released on 02-Nov-2004) 1. VSM has not been an active Gordano product since 01-Oct-2002. As of 14-Nov-2005 VSM will be withdrawn and all VSM functionality will be removed with any upgrades after this date. If you wish to maintain virus protection for your users you should contact the Gordano sales team to discuss purchase of a GMS Anti-Virus key. "2. Routing of mail using the ""localhost"" queue has been modified." Customers who have configured SMTPPortSend or SMTPPortReceive to different non-standard values in order to route mail to an intermediate mail server will need to add in a Outgoing rule for the localhost queue. "3. A new ""optional range"" has been added to wildcards. This takes a" " similar syntax as the old style range but is delimited by ""("" and" " "")"" instead of ""["" and ""]"". Any existing wildcards using the ""(""" " and "")"" characters should be updated." Upgrade notes for build 3241 (released on 20-July-04): 1. The server for GMS Collaboration is not backwards compatible with previous servers. This means that all the client installs must be upgraded. Non-upgraded clients will not be able to logon to the server. Upgrade notes for build 3213 (released on 30-Mar-04): 1. The MML command RunExecutable has changed syntax again. It is now possible to obtain the program error code via this API. See the MML programming guide for further details. 2. Third party Mail DLLs of all types will need to be recompiled against the latest header files. These can be found in the latest version of the GMS Option Pack. Upgrade notes for build 3180 (released on 02-Dec-03): 1. The MML command RunExecutable has changed syntax slightly. Calls to this function that use absolute path names or rely on system search paths may no longer work. See the MML programming guide for further details. Upgrade notes for build 3158 (released on 30-Sept-03): 1. Changes in the way GMS implements access rights means that some old style access rights settings will no longer work. It is recommended that all users be put in a profile. 2. Customers who have upgraded from NTMail Version 3 systems may have " a ""root"" account on their system with a default password. Any such" accounts will have their passwords changed to that of the system administrator. Please see http://www.gordano.com/kb.htm?q=1874 for more information. 3. GMS WebMail AP and GMS WebMail Gratis are no longer supported. If you wish to continue using GMS WebMail then you should contact sales to purchase a GMS WebMail key. No upgrade notes for build 3138 (released on 03-Jun-03): Upgrade notes for build 3136 (released on 13-May-03): 1. It is currently not possible for the Gordano SQL Service to be run as a user. This service must be run under the system account. 2. The SSL proxy can now be enabled/disabled independently of the " non-SSL proxy. If the proxy was enabled before the upgrade," non-SSL proxy will be enabled and SSL proxy will be disabled after the upgrade. 3. After the initial installation has finished there may be a short delay before the Gordano Configuration Service is available. During this time the service is performing important housekeeping tasks. "4. Following the upgrade, GMS WebMail users may lose their language" settings and revert back to their profile default. This is due to an upgrade in the user's profile settings. Future releases will not suffer this problem. 5. For Solaris installations only - the use of the Virus List Report will cause 100% CPU utilization. We therefore advise this report is not used on the Solaris platform. Future releases will not suffer this problem. 6. There is a known issue with the serving of pages on the standard port 80 HTTP service. This does not affect customers running the GMS WebMail interface on port 80. Customers using the standard port 80 HTTP server included with GMS should ensure that they obtain and install the hotfix for the WWW service appropriate to their operating system from ftp.gordano.com prior to proceeding with the upgrade. Once the upgrade is complete stop the existing WWW service and update to the hotfix release. Upgrade notes for build 3078 (released on 30-Oct-02): 1. The system addressbook vCard for Gordano Support includes a telephone number for the US Premium support line. This number has been discontinued Upgrade notes for build 3075 (released on 01-Oct-02): 1. If you are using the GMS Proxy Server then you will need to explicitly enable it. The proxy server is now off by default. 2. If you use any service monitoring software that relies on the long service name then it will need to be reset to use the new names. "3. ""GLWebMail XT"" has been renamed ""GMS Calendar"", this includes new" shared calendaring functionality. Personal anti-spam has been removed and is now included in GMS Anti-Spam. If you are currently running a GLWebMail XT key and apply before 31-Dec-02 to Gordano " Sales, you will be eligible for a discounted key for GMS Anti-Spam" 4. If you use GLWebMail AP then support for it will stop on 30-Sep-2003 and GLWebmail AP will no longer be available for use. Any upgrades after this date will cause the GLWebMail AP functionality to be removed. If you wish to continue using GMS WebMail then you should contact sales to purchase a GMS WebMail key. 5. VSM is no longer an active product. Support for existing VSM customers is still provided but no new functionality will be added to this product. If you wish to use new GMS Anti-Virus or GMS Anti-Spam functionality then you should contact sales to purchase a new key. 6. Please note that the mail.exe commands have been rationalised. Please consult the documentation for new usage. Upgrade notes for build 3035 (released on 29-Apr-02): 1. If you are upgrading from build 3032 Calendar email alarms will be checked every 30 minutes. This should be changed to 1 minute. " To make this change, select the Calendar node in the new" administration interface and set the update period to 1 minute. Upgrade notes for build 3032 (released on 9-Apr-02): 1. Calendar alarms are based on GMT. This will be changed to local time in the hotfix. Fixed in build 3034. 2. If mySQL server is not running when sending email with WebMail no warning message is given that the message was not sent correctly. Fixed in build 3034. 3. Multiple access to messages within an IMAP mailbox is not possible - it can be replicated with two IMAP clients (OE in this case) from 2 different IP's accessing the same mailbox. Fixed in build 3034. Upgrade notes for build 3028 (released on 26-Feb-02): "1. Any existing filters that have ""+"" or ""%"" characters in the" " clauses may stop working. These characters and "","" and "":"" can" " now be used in filters. Work around: Any filters with ""+"" and" " ""%"" should be corrected and updated." "2. With the release of GLWebMail XT, the folder called ""Quarantine""" (or equivalent in your selected language) takes on a special role for the removal of spam from email messages. When users " log off, the Quarantine folder will be purged of old messages."
