What's new in build 3759?

Answer:

Version 17.00.3759 of the Gordano Messaging Suite was released on the 23rd of March, 2010. This release focuses on the addition of "Document Management" to the GMS WebMail Professional client.

Document management allows users to store documents server side in both personal and shared document storage areas. Users can create different document folders and share individual folders with other users or groups of users. This allows a collaborative working environment on documents or projects.

Revision history allows previous versions of documents to be maintained, allowing a user to revert to a previous version of a document if required. Users can also control whether other users have read-only access to document stores, or are able to make changes to documents. Known document types such as image files, pdf files or text files can be previewed directly within a browser, while other document types can be downloaded to a local PC for revision or review.

Administrators can limit file storage space and the number of revisions that users are allowed to make, as usual these limits and controls are implemented via profiles.

Additional Browser Support

  • Safari
  • Google Chrome

GMS can be downloaded as usual from our ftp site.

The following enhancements and fixes are also included:

GMS v17 Build 3759

All products

10642 - Previously it was only possible to impose a minimum limit of 128bit ciphers in GMS - this has been enhanced and can now be imposed at 256bit.

GMS WebMail

When creating repeat events, if the user did not specify an end date,  no repeats were created.   Now a warning is displayed to ensure the user cannot mistakenly believe events have been created when they have not.

9452 - Attaching a file with a name greater than 170 characters long would previously cause an error - this is now prevented.

9474 - Under certain circumstances WebMail was stripping inline style definitions from messages when displaying them.   This has been changed to leave style definitions intact which improves display of these messages.

9806 - Repeating events added on the last day of the month with a monthly repeat interval could result in missing events for some months.  Now the last working day is calculated and the event is added on this date.

10242 - Enabling an alarm but not specifying the alarm type would cause the icon to appear in the calendar view even though no alarm existed - this no longer occurs.

10318 - When copying a calendar event, the original alarm would be associated with both events - now new alarms are created for each copied event.

10512 - Removing an alarm from an event but leaving the alarm type set would result in the alarm icon remaining in place.

10538 - Replying to messages with the user configuration option set to use "plain text" would result in punctuation being lost from the body of the inline reply, this has been fixed.

10551 - Editing a draft in WebMail Express would result in any punctuation being lost, this has been fixed.

10597 - When sending a webmail event invite, if a description was missing then the invite would be empty - it now includes the summary and also if present the description.

10604 - The presence of HTML "name" values in html email would cause problems, this has been fixed.

10640 - When moving a message using the "move" icon, the new window popup would sometimes not contain the folder list - this has been fixed.

GMS Communication server

10634 - When sending a list error message to a list member or contributor in certain circumstances the name of the list that generated the error was not included - it now is included in all cases.

GMS Anti-Spam

10623 - Specific anti-spam configuration settings could result in the anti-spam action only being applied to the first recipient of an SMTP transaction with multiple RCPTs - this is now resolved.

10648 - Invalid data in the spam.txt file could cause a trap during SMTP startup, this has been resolved.
