What do the fields in a log file mean?

Answer:
Each line of a log file has the following parameters:

  • Service
  • Date & time
  • Type of entry
    S = statistics
    F = a failure
    I = information
    A = action
    P = protocol
    M = DNS
    Z = parser (all details)
  • Five digit code for internal use by Gordano Ltd. (four digit code in older versions)
  • Thread id (usually present) is the number of the thread that made the log entry
  • The remainder of the line describes the entry in more detail
