Provides enhanced Web 2.0 features including new social computing features

GMS is a multi-platform messaging system providing an easy-to-use, scalable alternative to Microsoft Exchange that runs on Windows, Linux, Solaris and AIX.

The new release of GMS, introduces an enhanced user experience and increases the capabilities of the web client with additional social computing features. Gordano's mashup technology, known as Gizmos, greatly increases the extensibility of the interface and provides the ability to quickly and efficiently interface with external data sources without leaving the GMS interface.

A major enhancement of this latest release of GMS is the ability to embed Gizmos within windows, offering heightened functionality when composing an email or creating new items. In addition, GMS users can create new custom windows and populate these with their chosen information.

"Our latest release of GMS includes several new Gizmos to add even more functionality, including support for the Twitter APIs and the provision of an RSS Reader directly within the WebMail interface," says John Stanners, Managing Director of Gordano. "The range of available screen areas controllable by Gizmos has been extended, as well as providing the capability to embed Gizmos into windows. Our users indicate that Gizmos are extremely useful to their productivity and efficiency, and also provide additional tools to our users that streamline their processes and improve their daily workflow."

The technology behind Gizmos has also been extended to provide support for jQuery in addition to JavaScript, opening up development to a much wider audience. The concept of Administration Gizmos has been introduced in this latest release of GMS. Admin Gizmos enable control of Gizmos to be handed to administrators, allowing them to provide users with additional functionality or to limit ability.
