NEW RELEASE! Gordano integrates collaboration features into web access component

GMS Web Organizer provides access to Outlook Collaboration features via standard browsers such as Internet Explorer and Firefox; Identical views of information available no matter which access method is selected.

(NEW YORK – June 21, 2005) Gordano Ltd.. - an international developer of low-cost, web-based enterprise messaging products - has released Version 11.0 of the Gordano Messaging Suite, a multi-platform messaging system providing an easy-to-use alternative to Microsoft Exchange that is compatible with Windows (NT, XP, 2000, 2003), Linux (Redhat, Suse, Mandrake, Debian, etc), Solaris and AIX.

This release of the suite introduces Version 4 of GMS Web Organizer, which replaces and builds on the functionality previously available in GMS Web Organizer, providing access and sharing capabilities to Calendars, Contacts, Notes and Tasks from within a rich HTTP client interface. Users now have a direct choice of collaboration clients, provided by both GMS and MS Outlook and can alternate between clients at will. No matter which access methods are selected users will obtain identical views on their information store.

In common with Gordano’s WebMail interface Web Organizer is presented within a clean desktop client like interface, meaning that end users can switch between Microsoft and Gordano clients without any re-training requirements. The open nature of Gordano’s protocols means that further iCal aware clients such as Mozilla Calendar and Apple iCal may also be used to access calendars and tasks.

This release of GMS includes Version 4 of GMS Instant Messenger, which provides a native Windows Instant Messaging (IM) client. The introduction of this client allows tight integration into the Windows desktop providing the feature-rich interface which users have come to expect from IM clients. The IM client also integrates into Outlook, extending access to presence and location information while also allowing users to send Instant Messages, SMS messages and Pager messages directly from within the mail client.

Previous releases of the Gordano Messaging Suite provided a realistic, fully functional alternative to Microsoft Exchange across a range of platforms while supporting Outlook's familiar features.

"Having administered Microsoft Exchange Servers for over 5 years, I was amazed when I discovered GMS," says Justin Graf of Empro Manufacturing. "The simplicity of installation, configuration and administration is truly astounding, and the facilities provided extremely comprehensive. With Exchange, the simplest tasks were very involved and often required the purchase of additional third party software."
